How the almanac counts

The Common Year runs 364 days: twelve months of 28 days and four festival weeks of 7. Because 364 divides evenly by seven, every month and festival begins on a Starday, and each date falls on the same weekday every year.

The almanac counts one day on Oerth for each day of ours. It sets Midwinter Night, the fourth day of Needfest, on the winter solstice of December 21, 2025, which puts the other festival midpoints within a few days of our equinoxes and midsummer. The Common Year is about a day and a quarter shorter than ours, so the two calendars drift apart slowly.

Luna waxes and wanes over 28 days. Celene takes 91 and is full through every festival week. Both moons are full on Midsummer Night, Richfest 4, and both are new on Dark Night, Goodmonth 11. The year shown is 576 CY, the year Legends of Greyhawk opened in.
